Reading Notes Ramayana Online PDE: Part A
King Dasharatha: I started with this one because I wanted to try and get the base characters and setting. Group of people/ country Koshala. Ruler: Dasharatha Kids: Rama Mithila Head providence: Janaka Daughter: Sita Capital: Ayodhya
Performs horse sacrifices to try to get a son, but gets 4. There is great imagery all through out this should be a major focus for me.
Help for weapons: They bring a sword and bow.
Thataka: important for my battle and weapon story possibilities. They fights Thataka and cut off her arms and nose. Then they get their celestial weapons when giving a bone and blood sacrifice.
King Janka: In this story there is talks about a bow that is so strong and hard to use gods can't even break it. The king is going ot give his daughter's hand in marriage if someone can bend it. The only problem is is the bow can't even be bent by gods, so it begs the question will the boys be able to do it. (Vishwamitra) Having a challenge would be a good idea for the story. If i go on a different path I will try to incorporate some kind of challenge for the hero. Rama wins the challenge by breaking the bow so hard that it makes a tremendous boom. A good plot idea would be to have some natural disaster or a huge sounds for the person who completes the challenge. Or even maybe some grand event. Rama does the stringing of the bow so easily that the hermit gets great pride from him. He shows alot of respect by bowing down to him. This was a quick change of events because he was mad then he was amazed by Rama after his accomplishments. Also the hero of the story will need to easily do the task to show their power.
