Week 4 Story World Mythology Story: Why the Seasons Came to Be

Seba was the grand ruler of all the land. Not only was he just the king of the world, he was the God. He had all of the power in the world and made his subjects life very easy. The world was prosperous and beautiful. The trees were green year round and harvest were always bountiful. Seba was walking through his kingdom one day when he saw a woman painting. She was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. She looked so divine and he could hardly believe his eyes. He quickly walked up to her and compliment her art. When he asked for her name she didn't respond with one instead she said.

"I was an orphan who was never given a name. People just call me Art Girl because of the beautiful art I create."

"Art Girl" Seba thought, "how beautiful yet so simple". She was an angle that only he himself could have made.

Seba asked her to be his wife. She wanted to agree, after all he was a God. The only problem was she was already with Seba's friend Chad. Seba had no clue and became wild. He couldn't believe Chad would have found such a beautiful maiden and never told him. When he asked Chad about her all he could do was laugh. "Oh Art Girl he laughed, "She is just the poor peasant I have for for the side". "I don't care about her at all". Seba grew angry with rage Chad didn't deserve someone as sweet as Art Girl. Chad told Seba he could be with Art Girl for as many months as he was able to get on 2 dice. Seba threw the dice and was only able to get a 2 and a 4. "6 months it is" Chad said. Seba loved Art Girl and he was only happy when he was with her. The other months when she was away from him he just cried and pouted. That caused the time he was away from Art Girl to winter. Because everything was bland and ugly.

Seba's dice roll for only 6 months with Art Girl

Author's notes: For this week I choose the story of Persephone. She was the first daughter of Zeus and was given to his brother Hades. When she ate some seeds she was forced to be hades wife for those 6 months. When she was returned with her mother it was summer. When she was away it was winter. So i just changed the characters of this story, but kept everything else the same. I got this from watching the Crash course.

  1. Hi Alex, I really enjoyed reading your story. It was a fun read! I liked how you changed the character and how you did the rolling of the dice for how they determined how many months Seba got to spend with Art Girl. I was not expecting Art Girl to be with Seba's best friend and was shocked when I read that Chad did not even care about Art Girl and just wanted to have her on the side.

  2. Hi Alex,
I enjoyed reading your story! It was an interesting spin on the story of Persephone. I enjoyed the image you used as well. I love gambling (probably the worst habit to have), so the picture you chose immediately grabbed my attention. I also like how you referred to her as "Art Girl." It reminded me on a modern day spin on an old tale.

  3. Alex, your story was pretty dope. I like how you changed the characters but still kept the main plot of the story the same, it was a really cool take on the tale of Persephone. You made this story a lot more relatable which made it a lot more fun to read. Besides the fact that Seba was a God, this story was a lot more causal than the original and I really liked that.
